Re: New Video Card
So, this is my case:
#2 is where an optional 120mm fan goes.
This is the fan I have:
Newegg.com - Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E 120mm Case Fan
I've had that fan for years, and I was originally going to use when this PC was first built, because in the review of that case they highly recommend using an optional 120mm fan for better cooling.
This is the review:
However, when I had this PC put together, the guys said that they couldn't put that optional fan in, because the video card was in the way.
The current card, is a VisionTek HD4870.
Now, I don't know if these guys were just being lazy, or it really wouldn't fit.
My question is, is the going to be an issue with HD6950 as well?
Newegg.com - XFX HD-695X-CNDC Radeon HD 6950 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card with Eyefinity
I really hope I can use that fan, because I have no intake fans at all.
EDIT:
Card measurements:
10.2" x 4.38" x 1.5" 6950
10.8" x 8.2" x 2.8" 4870
So, it MIGHT fit..
I really can't get a new case right now.
Hannibal suggested this:
Newegg.com - StarTech FANDRIVE2BK Plastic 5.25" Drive Bay Hard Drive Cooler -2 Fans
So, if it doesn't fit ....might try that.Last edited by Guyver; 01-02-12 at 04:19 AM.
