Frys is still selling 1tb wd drive for $49. I bought two the other day for a customer.

Looks like they're $99.99 online now, and they're limiting sales to one per household:

Might be cheaper in the stores.

I was wondering what was up. I priced them this week and was scratching my head saying WTF? Makes sense now. Kinda killed the budget build I was gonna do. Any drives for me will be SSDs.

Yeah, I was just about to order some cheap drives when bam, they were double the price.

Just snagged a WD Caviar Black 1Tb from Best Buy for $130.....and felt lucky. I have another one that I paid $90 for ~ 2 years ago. They are selling them (the bare drive version) on NewEgg for $210.

Yeah, I really wanted to get some Western Digital RE drives for a proper RAID0 array, but the prices soared just as I was ready and I had to settle for what I had on hand, two WD blacks and a Maxtor.
