Though does it matter? switching to a 6870 is a good couple hundred price drop, and we know it runs on Ultra.

Also, is the fan(not the stock CPU one, the bottom link) needed for anything other then overclocking?

Even if you don't overclock...aftermarket cooling is always better. I've got a 120mm CPU fan...and I'm not overclocking.

Newegg.com - Computer Hardware, Fans & Heatsinks, CPU Fans & Heatsinks, XIGMATEK

It's one of those...(can't remember which, though.)

just look past the brand names and look at the numbers. they pretty much buy from the same vendors, then bin thier ram. so regardless of the name you should shop by price tiers. some of the mor high dollar stuff has lower Cas Latency/Timings, which in my experince make good over clockers @ stock lantency/timings.

so basicly since ram is commodity like product you get what you pay for. so lower end is gonna be elpida and hynex, better stuff is like micron and samsung etc...

    That is a nice build.

That Seasonic PSU should be solid. It has no reviews but Seasonic builds a great PSU typically. 750 is a lot of juice for a single card system. I am using a Corsair TX650 to drive two 560tis. Just a thought: Might want to go for a PSU with lots of reviews.

Here is a great article from Toms comparing GPU's and CPU's at playing BF3. And spirit, if you are running a single 6870 at ultra you must be getting like 38FPS on average! I can say safely my 560ti runs it all on high, I am sure the 6870 will run everything on high with 50+ FPS consistently.

Another interesting thing in that article is that a core i3, a core i7 and a AMDFX8150 all perform nearly identically for BF3 given similar video cards... So you could get an AMD solution and not miss a beat for BF3 (and most games) by getting the Bulldozer.
