Hi all,
I am thinking about a 6870x2 setup for a friend of mine, he wants physX as well and he already has a GTS450 so its not going to cost him anything to add it. He already has a 750W Silencer power supply that he has been using for years. So the question is with the GTS450 only working for PhysX games can the 750W psu handle this setup?

Re: Power supply thought experiment
What processor and is there going to be any overclocking at all?
I do not know how power hungry the 6870 cards are, but I know for my setup:
gtx590 (2x580's) : overclocked to 650mhz
gtx 275 for physx : stock
Phenom II x6 1055T : overclocked to 4ghz
6x hard drives
I was pushing near 1100 watts at the peaks of demand. On average I sat at 550 watts though.....
So take those stats how you will.-- Intentionally Left Blank --

Re: Power supply thought experiment
I've got an nvidia 570 and 260 GTX for physx. I gave my other 260 GTX to a friend so he could play BF3. You guys have any recommendations for the cheapest yet fully capable nvidia card for physx? I'd like to give/sell him the second one so he can do SLI with them for better fps.

Re: Power supply thought experiment
Sorry, getting this one off topic. I have a silencer 650 running:
Nvidia 570
Nvidia GTX 260
6 x 1 GB ram sticks
Intel 920 processor
2xRaptor 10,000 RPM drives
Optical drive
2x64 GB solid states...
5 case fans
I've had absolutely no issues with it or stability. PC Power and Cooling makes some quality PSU imo.

I have a Sparkle GTS 450 single slot card that I use for PhysX. I paid a bit more as the single slot card is actually more than the regular dual slot cards. I also think the GTX 260 Razor editions make good PhysX cards, but good luck finding one. They are also single slot, which helps if you are already running an SLI/Crossfire system. Having the extra space is nice.
