Bigdog Boxes
So like a few people suggested we do, here it is....
I know my way around hardware. It's fun, to me. I've built......and rebuilt....and fixed........and upgraded......and salvaged.......and bought.....and sold......and shipped.....and installed.....and reinstalled....and formatted.....and deleted.....a lot of computers.
Good enough that people who know ask for me to build stuff for em.
such as tony perkiss's sick rig.
such as one-mafia's beast of a machine.
such as bighubs, biggd's, and wolf's (more than once in some cases).
such as personal friends, as well as people who have no idea who I am.
So, here's the deal. You pick out what you want. All by yourself, or I can advise you as to what will give you what you're hoping for. Go for the high end retail, or dive into the OEM and clearance bins.....that's your choice.
Pick it all out (or have me help you pick it out), then I'll buy it, I'll build it, I'll install it, I'll benchmark it, and I'll ship it to you. You pay me for your part lists, + 10% of it's value. Easy stuff.
Maybe that 10% value will go up in the future, but it's pretty fair for now. You buy $2000 in gear, and you give me $200. Seems easy enough.
Does it sound too easy? Yeah. Does it sound stupid? Maybe.
But it's stuff I know how to do.
By all means, if you want to go drop $5000 on an alienware, you go do that. But understand that we all reserve the right to say "Dude, you got a dell", and "Dude, you got robbed".
No matter what, the prices you get from building it yourself are FAR less than what you'll pay to have a company make it for you. And at least, when you build it yourself, it's YOUR stuff, with YOUR configs, and YOUR choices 100%. But.....building aint easy. It takes time, patience, and experience. And if you didn't start long ago, it's nearly impossible to start doing it now, ESPECIALLY with $2000 in parts laying around on your living room floor.
I could post a few spec lists of my recent builds, or those that I've built for can come in here and do it themselves. I stand by what I can do.
Start to finish.......I typically can build your box in less than a day, and have it to you less than a week after I get the parts. OS loaded or not. Your call, top to bottom, what goes in and what goes on your box.
Case, RAM, CPU, motherboard, HDD's, sound, power, cooling (though that's hard to ship), drives, temperature sensors, fans, lighting, whatever you think of (or are advised to think of)......you got it.
Hit me up here, or in a pm, and we'll talk business.

RE: Bigdog Boxes
Definitely, dog helped me build my rig. Havn't had a problem with it since. We have built many computers to where i even know how to do it now. I just ask dog for advice sometimes, and if you have any questions... ask him, the man knows what he is talking about.

RE: Bigdog Boxes
I think that is a VERY generous offer BigDog, only charging 10% of the value of the computer is MORE than fair, it's a hell of a good deal.
You should design and order some TTP stickers from Cafepress and equip each case you build with a custom "Built by BigDog" Texas Teamplayers sticker. That would be pretty damn cool.

I did not know anything about computers, so not only did I get a rig, but Big consulted me through every single step. And he seriously knows what he is talking about. Once I decided what i wanted, it was purchased on Newegg and sent to Bigdog. He put it together in no time and had it shipped and packed like a professional. He even installed steam and made me custom TTP avatars. A HELL of a sweet deal and a pleasure to do business with. I believe he saved me about 500-600 dollars.

Well they say timing is everything and I am about to get a good income tax refund and was planning on building a computer. It sucks playing CS on my laptop with a 5100 graphics card. So I'll start shopping newegg and when I get the monies I will probably be in need of your services. I have some idea of how to build computers from working on video games and jueboxes etc. but I have never built a comp so I was a little concerned about doin it myself.

for those of you interested in this, I gotta say 10% is a steal.
At the custom rig shop I used to work at, we would charge markup on all the parts then tack on 50% for the build plus extras if you wanted mod work done.
Thats the same way Alienware, Voodoo, and Falcon Northwest do it too.
Thats also why rigs like run better than a Best Buy special. TLC does matter during a build and to only pay 10% for TLC is a steal.Sleep, eat, conquer, meditate, repeat.
