    Also taking a step back...

    ... from the forums

I don't want to re-start the issues from the last topic of this name, but instead get something off my chest with the way that the thread / forum was handled.

Here's what I saw from my perspective:

    - late last night a friend that I've enjoyed playing L4D2 with posts a kinda sad / upset thread about issue with the game / people

    - being someone that has played a lot with him / is directly involved in the topic, I post and then go to bed

    - I check back the next day after work (not even 24hs later) to see if anyone else has commented and find 12 pages. WTF?!?!? I start reading....

    - I spend the next 40min reading posts from a bunch of people that have either never played the game or stopped playing long before I started and who obviously have no fucking idea what they are talking about. They clearly don't understand what's going on, the community of people actually play the game or the comments that they've made in the thread. However, this certainly doesn't keep them from shitting out of their mouths, insulting my friends that have posted, and insulting the community of people who are playing / actually involved in the topic of the OP.

    - After reading 40min of this, I get to the last page and find the topic locked. Yep, less than 24hrs and locked. I'm pretty pissed.

    - Almost on queue I get an invite to go play l4d2, so I spend yet another evening hanging out with some of the nicest, tolerant and welcoming, and fun guy's that I've ever gamed with.

I've gamed (CSS, CS:GO, and L4D2) with the TPG community for a few years now but steered clear of the forums because A) I'd rather spend my time gaming then talking about gaming, and B) because what little bit I saw seemed like it was dominated by people that love drama and talking out of their asses more than anything that has to do with games (or reality).

A friend that I enjoyed playing with leaving the game was important enough for a me to take another look at the forums and what I saw made me pretty sick. It's pretty fucking hypocritical when people who have no idea what's going on will jump all over someone in the forums for being intolerant / overly critical... And then lock the thread once they are done / have whiped their ass with the topic before more people WHO ARE ACTUALLY INVOLVED WITH THE ISSUE AT HAND have had a chance to respond.

Well, GG. You have had the last word on the topic and you can be the kings and arbiters of truth and justice on the forums. I'm going to go back to playing with my elitist asshole friends. If anyone would like to be treated badly, called names, and belittled for not being good enough you should probably stay out of TPG L4D2, you'll just be disappointed; the forums are a better bet.

Re: Also taking a step back...

Let me help you with your break with a 3 day suspension from the forums for rehashing a topic that was locked.

Threads are locked for a reason. In this case, the argument had come full circle and there was nothing left to say. Both sides said their piece and others were starting to join the topic with nonsense. If you missed out on putting in your two cents while the thread was open, tough shit. Sounds like you need to look at the forums more if you want to be part of these types of conversations.

The last word was supposed to be my word, taking a brief summary of both sides' opinions and what we all can take from the conversation. Adre is a mod and did not notice the thread was locked when he posted, but he has been talked to. All this new thread does is start this merry-go-round over again when there is nothing left to be said.
