    It's all messed up

I really can't describe what's going on so I'm just going to post a screenshot here:

Please note that this is one of the parts that are less messed up. Seriously. I can move around and all, jump, i even collected the submachine gun, but I can't see anything and the sounds are messed up as well, the same 1 second sound fragment repeats like 4 times before the next one... Can anyone help?

    Operating System: Windows XP Professional
    Processor: Intel Celeron CPU 2.66GHz
    Memory: 1024MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 256 MB
    Sound: Realtek AC97 Audio

I'd attempt updating your drivers as a first step.

Maybe your graphics card is to old for this game and doesnt support the right shader version (dunno, just guessing!).

    Minimal requirement:
    - Graphics: 128 MB, Shader model 2.0, Ati 9600, Nvidia 6600 or better

You are below the minimal requirements by quite a bit.

But since it was released it's been plagued with poor performance.

It looks like fragmentation from the screen shot which usually happens when a GFX card over heats but you're just starting the game. So over heating shouldn't be the issue.

I'd still update to the latest drivers and cross you're fingers.
By updating do you mean getting a new more recent video card?

No, I mean installing the newest drivers for your Video Card, Sound Card and Mother Board. In an attempt to make it work now with out new hardware, although you probably want to consider that as well.

Also tbh getting a new video card would be somewhat pointless, as the newest AGP video card you can get is 2-3 years old now. You would be better off building a whole new system.
