Connection Time Out Error
The problem I'm having seems to be a unique one. I have yet to see any other thread out there explaining a similar problem.
To make a long story short, I have owned a private 8 slot L4D Server for about 2 weeks now and I have never had any problems with it. Last night, I hop on to play some with my friends and I get to about the second level of Hospital when I get those dread read words in the top right of my screen saying something to the effect of: Warning: Lost connection... blah blah blah.
At first, I thought my internet went out. That is not the case because I quickly received a Steam PM from a buddy asking where I went. So, clearly my internet is still working. I ask him if the server crashed, he tells me no and that he and the 2 other guys are still in the server playing. I try to reconnect, but it just times out after trying to connect 10 times.
I try to connect to a public Left 4 Dead server, and it works. So I try to connect to my private server, still won't connect.
I make sure all unessential external programs are closed. Still can't connect to that server.
I open up ports on my router. Won't work.
I make sure my router firmware is up to date, it is.
I turn my modem off and on, turn my router off and on. Won't work.
I've tried just about everything I can think of, short of reinstalling the game.
An important side-note, this happened to me earlier in the day while playing Counter Strike: Source with some friends of mine. I had been in the server for a solid hour and then I got those dread red words in the top right corner. I thought the server crashed, but my friends said the server was still up. I couldn't reconnect but I could join other servers. My roommate was playing with me, and he got D/Ced as well. So I don't think the problem lies within my PC or within my individual firewall.
This is really odd, and I would love for anyone to try and help me. I can post my DXDiag if needed, but I don't think it will be necessary.
Thanks ahead of time for your help.
