L4D game crashes after working fine a week ago.

I updated it today and when I click to play, it says "left4dead.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It says it is caused by "ModName: shaderapidx9.dll." Any ideas? Thanks.

    Hmm..

Go to your L4D folder (default: C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead)
There's a folder called "bin". Check out if you have shaderapidx9.dll there. If don't download it from here: Downlod shaderapidx9.dll at www.afreedll.com! and place it to "bin" folder.

If you have it though, then I'm once again left out of suggestions.

I also found a guide how to install the .dll properly http://www.afreedll.com/installing-dll-files.php
Although just downloading it and putting it to right folder has always worked for me. Maybe that will come in handy. Dunno.

    Well that sucks..

Have you updated your graphics card drivers? That might help.

I did. I also tried doing system restore point and nothing. I have tried reinstalling too.

Hey try to play with different resolution, or something. That might help
    Saw it in some forums.

Some guy in here: HL2world.com :: View topic - shaderapidx9.dll crushing my mdlviewer and faceposer. fixed it like that

I tried deleting the local content but it did not work. So before I called it a night, I did another system restore point further back to November 23rd and it worked once it was complete. Might I add that TF2 and any other source game were giving me the same error. Everything is fixed now though, thanks everyone.
