When Tank shows up, FPS drops to 5

HI,

Everytime when Tank is near by, the game almost freezes and then get running again at fps 5.
Otherwise fps is 40+. If I managed to kill Tank, then FPS goes back to normal again.
I tried minimum settings all effects disabled, but doesnt help.

Any clue what cause that?

Sys specs:
Pentium 4 3.2GHz
1GB RAM
Radeon HD 2600XT
XP SP3
All new drivers installed

how do you turn on to check your fps? i know how to do it on cs but l4d i dont know how to turn on net_graph and stuff

First enable console mode. Once you enable console mode, press the "~" tilde key and type in either net_graph 1, net_graph 2, net_graph 3.. I prefer net_graph 1

Those barely pass the minimum settings for left 4 dead.. What's your resolution set at?

i have a Pentium 4 at 3,6 ghx, 1,5 gig ram and a ati radeon HD4850 gfx card, resolution on 1680x1050 works fine for me, perhaps my gfx card is a tad better... i guess investing in a new gfx would help, or just turn down all the highs to lows on the gfx settings...

make sure all your drivers are upto date. cause i basically have th esame specs and i run it fine.

where do i set the console mode? and i sorta got the same specs as psiv with pent 4 3.0 9600 xt radeon, 3 gb ram windows xp

Keyboard options> Enable developer's console

Game runs 40+ FPS, most of settings are medium @ 1280x768.
I tried minimum settings @ 800x600 but it doesnt help.
Even, if i have over 20 zombies on the screen, FPS never drops under 30.
But when Tank shows up the game freezes a sec and FPS drops to 5.
All new drivers installed.

There must be a bug with the Tank character or something, because without him the game runs fine. Maybe my installation is broken, I tried reinstall 4 times, no errors occured.

I bought the game, because I have Orange Box and knew that all source engine based games runs fine on my old comp. (Included Left4Dead without Tank lol)
