The match-up between Survivors and Infected on Versus can be quite balanced. That being said, if there was a 4 on 4 between the best players, it would be interesting to see whether there is truly an imbalance that favors one side.
Your frustrations are understandable and it stems from the different levels of play on Versus. When the Survivors start playing as a unit/team, the Infected also need to step it up, otherwise you will get overwhelmed. Here are a few basic points that I learned through getting beaten up by other players!
(1) Always synch up. In other words, do not attack until all 4 of the Special Infected have spawned and are in position. Just because you spawn first does not mean you need to attack solo (there are exceptions of course, i.e., there is an easy opportunity to severely damage a straggler or a scout who has wandered too far ahead). Wait for your team because there is strength in numbers.
(2) Have the right sequence of attacks. The Boomer can stun, blind and/or scatter the Survivors. Start off your team's attack with a Boomer and then let the rest of the team get in on the action (i.e., Smokers/Hunters pick off the people who are NOT blinded so the blinded ones cannot easily help them). The other school of thought is to have a Smoker/Hunter attack first to distract the Survivors to setup the Boomer for a perfect boom. The Smoker/Hunter doing the first attack might die, but with a perfect boom, the remaining Smoker/Hunters can do a lot more damage. The boom first approach has the greatest potential damage, but if the boom fails, then you are in trouble against a good team.
(3) Pick your spots. Don't attack if the Survivors are holed up in a defensible position. Eventually they will have to move on. The best time to attack is when they are moving. The chaos factor is higher. The exception being that if it's a panic sequence, then you might as well get in some licks, even if you die, because there is enough time for you to respawn.
(4) Play the Tank with a cool head. Do not get tricked into charging the Survivors so that they can gang you with auto-shotties or hit you with a molotov so that they can run away and let you burn. Throw rocks, run around, give your team time to respawn/get into position, and then lead the charge!
(5) In general, work together, slow down the Survivors, keep up the pressure, so you ultimately can respawn more and repeat the process. If there is an opportunity to take out one Survivor, do it, even if it means a sacrifice, because once you get them shorthanded, the win is your's for the taking.
The hardest part about this whole thing is that the quality of the game now depends not just on your own skill, but the skill and willingness/ability of your partners to cooperate. And that's what the vote option is for . . . if someone is deliberately being a loser, call for a vote and kick them

I play this for xbox 360, and I am tired of the majority of the players either
A) Leave the game by 2nd or 3rd round if they lose by my team (Usually 2000-50) , or even 950-600 they leave.
B) Glitching is their last resort, along with someone on their team repeatably leaving and re-joining the game, causing everyone to lose connection.
We get out of the generator + elevator, piano + window, crane + warehouse door, dumpster + manhole within 2 minutes, but a few moments after we break free, the game shuts down.
Also, there are alot of bugs in this game, (infected starting witch when were near-by, hunters relocating witch, non-spawning tank in finales, NM2 breakable door, zombies frozen in mid air, pounding on doors that have nothing to do with where the survivors are, the swing+changeweapon bug, etc..) that do get tiring.
