Try setting your laptop's screen resolution to something low, like 1024, or 800. The start the game and set your game graphics settings to low. Then try the game and see if it looks right. If it does, then gradually increase your graphics settings a little bit at a time.
It might be a good idea to go to Can You Run It and see what their analysis says about your system.*********************************

i already encounter the problem by installing windows vista home premium...
it seems that none of nvidia driver are updated for xp...
so i tried vista with new nvidia driver for vista and it works like a charm...
but now because of my video card is a piece of crap it a bit lag even with the lowest graphic...
