after the "Loading..." page after the intro

When I start up Left 4 Dead (PC), and after the valve picture and L4D intro it heads to the page that says "Loading..." in the bottom right side, it crashes after a few seconds of staying on that loading page. and crashing meaning the application closes and goes to the desktop. The steam app. does not crash. I have been playing this game for months already and it suddenly does this. What should I do to fix this? (besides re-installing the game) Also I only have it digitally through the account and it is not a CD.

It looks like you have a laptop, and people have had quite a few problems getting it to run on laptops.

But, have you read through THIS thread and tried any of the fixes?

Actually I'm not on a laptop. Technically it's a iMac with a partitioned HD and Windows on the other side. And I did look through that page you linked before I posted but it did not help me (I don't understand half the things on there). I appreciate the help though.

OK, can you look in your Windows Event Viewer and see if there are any error messages that pertain to L4D?
