Smacking zombies to death with random objects is hilariously fun, and fun is what games are all about.

These new melee weapons better do friendly fire damage, if they can kill a zombie with one shot, they'd better take a chunk of health out of a survivor...

Yes people can do this, theres still many dissadvantages if you do so
by the time it takes for you to drop a melee weapon, take out the weapon, and possibly reload it if needed, the SI coming will most likely already of pinned, boomed, spit, or punch you.
and if you drop a melee and run up to the smoked, pounced,or charged survivor, you will still have to run back and get your melee weapon, which will slow you down alot.

hmm... i just wanna see chainsaw vs tank really : P

The melee weapons are a temporary weapon which covers ALL weapons and items just like a propane tank and gas tank. What this means is, once you pick up a melee weapon, in order to use other items/weapons you must *drop* the melee weapon. I'm pretty sure this is done so people dont shoot, than switch to melee weapon once they are close to abuse the fact that they have unlimited melees with no fatigue. It has also been comfirmed(forgot where link was but im 99.99% sure) that meele weapons have FF to discourage abusing the unlimted melee for corner camping(as we saw pre-patch in L4D1)

So yeah just thought I'd explain basic mechanics of the melee weapon. The whole 1-hit SI thing i think is reasonable, I mean maybe for the charger it could just knock him off and stun him, but the others I can see being 1-hit. You have to also factor in the fact that you actually have to *get* to the pinned survivor/SI before you can hit it, which is easier said than done in most cases, AND you have to do it with no gun, just the melee weapon or else you'll drop it.

It's still going to be guns>melee weapons. The only place this could be bad is when you have a team using some type of combination of people gunning and people meleeing. It could make corner camping very easy. I also want to know, does the melee weapon do friendly damage?
