Try the following procedure from the Steam support team:

Please exit Steam and go to the C:Program FilesSteam directory (this is the default location for a Steam installation - if you set a different installation directory, you will need to browse to it).

Delete all of the files in this folder except:

The Steamapps folder and Steam.exe (this file is listed as an application and features the black and white Steam logo)

Restart your computer and test the issue.

If the issue persists, please complete the following process to force the download of new game files:

Please note: The following process will erase any custom mods and saved games you may have. It is strongly recommended that you copy your game files to another location to back them up before proceeding.

    - Go into SteamApps/common/ and delete the folder for this game.
    - Restart Steam and validate the game cache files:

Title: Verifying Game Cache Files (GCF)

    - Try launching the game

Iggy, I just wanted to say Thank You for your concern or appreciation or just straight up LOVE for this game.

I just spent the last few days ever since the CC Update, trying to painly get my L4d to work.
Let me say I was just in a full versus game, which we could not rematch our great random pub game due to the Patch just being Active.
So I exit, download the update then, Boom crash to desktop (Root of Problem? Playing n Update came in effect.)

I had just upgraded my 2.0 shader to a 3.0 and replaced the power supply and have done countless parameters and protocols just from this recent update which no one else had problems with.

I had tried deleting the .blob file, did not work, and very lastely I read this thread.... which... for some god thankful reason, worked.

I'm only replying to this because I have done countlesscountless steps and I would not have thought it was an error in my update, I had a feeling, but I just wanted to report here as soon as possible because if it weren't for you relaying the steam support message, I would have most likely never have discovered it.

    Thank you again,

    GAZM
