    Musings about the demo

Here are some musings about the demo.

The [B]Jockey[B] is quite effective; I found myself being dragged off to my death by zombie rape multiple times throughout my play through. He is a bit like the monkey from Timesplitters though; while I can understand why he needs to be hard to hit while not on a survivor, his stature is a bit too low for what he can do.

The Charger has a knack for scaring the crap out of me. It's tough on expert when your winding down those small alleys only to be faced with a Goliath of muscle charging at you. His music cue was also sorta quiet, especially for his tank-like damage infliction potential. He also goes down too quick.

The Spitter is going to be a good situational weapon like that of the smoker. While sorta iffy in an average street, her acid will work wonders in tight, narrow gaps. I can imagine for a second the little board you have to walk on in "The Greenhouse" of Dead Air near the beginning of the level. It's an excellent ambush area with just a boomer, smoker, and two hunters, but imagine the possibilities of having a smoker, spitter, jockey, and hunter coming at you on that little board. The new special infected are very effective when it comes to important situations like the one above.

The Witch seemed a little out of place with her not sitting down and crying to herself. I didn't really see much of her, and I don't know if she can really be too effective unless she is perfectly placed. The first place I saw her happened to be in the park, in the area with the statue, easily avoidable. The second place was actually a clever move by the Director, placing her in the middle of the path of the panic event of the second level in another play through. She ended up taking an errant bullet to the face and went at Rochelle, killing her. We didn't survive.

The Survivors are an odd bunch. I assume that the dialogue will be different earlier in the game due to this being the last campaign. Ellis is often hard to understand, Nick is sorta out there in a way, and Rochelle likes to stand around and get killed by the Tank. I do like Coach though, he seems to be the one that pulls them all together.

The Levels were pretty good, I'd have to say. Valve put a cool little easter egg on that jukebox. I hope there are more of those throughout the rest of the game. Seriously, that was awesome. Valve, you know you did well. But you know you can do better. Put some more of these in please.

    There ya go kiddos.
    I've covered wars you know...

The jockey is a challenge becuase he has high HP and is a quick moving-small target. The charger's roar is what I find to be the most startling about him. Spitter is a little weak but her primary strength is phenominal. The characters are great, ellis acts like an immature 21 year old, like one who has been sheltered his whole life.
