Can't reinstall after a reformat????

I reformatted when I bought windows 7 and was happily installing all my games again and come to find out, I cant reinstall L4D!

It says my cd key has already been registered. What kind of racket they got running here

Steam is moronic. I cant even play CoD MW2 offline ffs.

Anyone know why I cant reinstall a game I payed $54 dollars for

Sorry if I seem agitated but between this and the CoD thing, I have about had my fill of subpar services and products.

The error you are getting is a Steam error? Are you installing it off disc, then activating it in Steam?

Yeah, I put the disk in, autorun starts the install process, I get to the point when you have to enter the Activation Key, I opne the game case, get the activation key, type it in, and it says it has already been registered.

Am I not doing something right

EVERY game I have that IS NOT related in ANY way to Steam, gives me ZERO fricking problems when reinstalling.

The installer from the disk is what brings the steam garbage up.

if you're game is already registered in steam, you could open steam and redownload it through their servers?

Am not sure if installation via CD requires you to be online - have you tried installing the game dfrom cd with the internet disconnected?

I tried re downloading it and it is like having to buy it again, It is just telling me to add to cart.

And when I try installing without being online it says cannot connect to steam servers.

really really unhappy with this product.

If you haven't already, this sounds like you need to open a support ticket with Steam Support and have them check it. You should be able to reinstall the game without having to buy it again.
