Left 4 dead stuck on loading screen

Hi,
I finally got my left 4 dead 1 updated and when i was playing through the single player campaigns i found in the second , third and fourth campaign usually maps 2 & 4 (always one of those 2 does not change but cant specify each map) makes the game not respond. I used windows task manager to close it and each time it does not work. On campaign five the first map most of the walls are checkered in magenta and black. And there is a big Error sign where the big howzer gun should be (i think). Im not sure if this problem is realted but i thought i would mention. Also in campaign 5 the second/last map wont load either same as the others.

(Campaigns are listed 1 - 5 in position of 1 is first campaign shown 2 is first campaign down from that etc. Same with maps.)

There are a few things you can try:

1: Do a Verify Integrity via Steam and see if you have any corrupted game files.

2: Remove any custom maps you may have installed. Some times the game will hang if it doesn't like a custom VPK in the addons folder.

3: Delete the file called VIDEO.TXT in your CFG folder and let it recreate itself.
