Thread: Certain Weapons Against Special Infected

Yes, you can kill special infected with any gun but is it me or does it seem like some guns do better than others at this?

I noticed a silenced Sub-machine gun when crouched, can make quick work of Jockeys in no time at all. It seems to actually stun them more. When a Jockey is riding someone, it seems quicker to get him off with a well placed magnum shot.

To kill Smokers and Spitters, of course the best weapon to use is pretty much any long distance gun, such as rifles.

I prefer taking a Boomer down with just pistols, but thats just me.

Shotguns are really effective against Hunters. You can skeet them in midair and they can die in one good shotgun blast.

I dunno about you guys but its tough to kill a Charger on high difficulties with machine guns and rifles. 2 shotgun shots should bring him down. I remember playing Dead Center yesterday and I empty an entire clip before killing a Charger. I picked up a shotgun and got him in no seconds flat.

Witches of course can be crowned with a shotgun. Its your best friend in Hard Rain, as crowning standing witches isn't too hard. I crowned every single one of them multiple times on Advanced and Expert so this weapon choice is really a no brainer.

Tanks, whatever works but its best to use shotguns as he seems to die more quickly.

So in essence, are shotguns the best overall weapon in Left 4 Dead excluding the M60?

Personally i use shotguns but I love when there is a person in my team that is good with submachine/hunting rifle. Each weapon has it's pros and cons and I don't thnk there is an ultimate one.

For example: pump shotgun deals huge damage per shot to the tank but bursts from submachine are able to slow him due to their stopping power.

to Kill a Jockey (When not riding): Melee
to Kill a Charger: Pistols
to Kill CI while on the run: Sniper Rifles
to Kill a Witch/Tank: Pistols/Sniper Rifles
to Kill a Smoker (Mid-Long Range): Shotgun

Thats just my opinion.
