Thread: left 4 dead 2 lighting problems

The problem in a nut shell is that the flashlight instead of illuminating anything instead causes a white rectangle to appear where it gets pointed. It doesnt happen on all surfaces just it seems on walls inside buildings. Its sorta hard to explain so here is a picture



Also it isnt just the flashlight but also muzzle flashes and fires can cause it as well.This is especially aggravating when it gets dark out as I have no illumination at all.



I dont normally link to pictures so I hope these are sized properly.

I tried deleting video.txt and reinstalling my drivers since those are two common fixes I have seen here neither worked.

Oh I almost forgot the problem originally started when I was playing the city 17 addon map I thought it may have been a problem with the map itself but it has plagued me on all maps since both offline and on.
My GPU is NVIDIA GeForce GT 335M if that is relevant.

Any explanation is appreciated but please try to keep it as simple as possible as I am not the greatest with computers.

Aside from that, when you install modifications like that they can have various impacts on the game--sometimes they are rather random and unexpected as as well. Have you tried uninstalling the City 17 add-on campaign? Because the install of its files can have a global affect on a lot of the rest of your files in the game as well. Example, if you were to change the "skin" of a particular common infected it would display that skin on all campaigns containing that particular infected.

well im not sure exactly what the problem was but I reinstalled left 4 dead 2 and that seems to have fixed it. Im still not sure what the problem was and hopefully it wont happen again because having to re download it off steam everytime there is a problem will play hell with my bandwith.
