Thread: Lag problems

I know this topic has been beaten to death, and I'm new here but can someone please help me. I've been playing L4D2 for the past few months online, with no problems. I'm running a 2.2 Core 2 Duo with a good ATI 512 mb graphics card, and my computer has never had problems running the game. Recently however, when online I get the famous "retrying connection" message, and massive lag. This is on any server. I've been using the same wireless and had no playability problems until recently. I checked tonight when I got lag, and my ping, latency whatever the little bars are in game was going from around 90 to 930! Nothing is downloading, and other players were around 80 the whole time. I tried the veryfying files using steam and it found one it had to re download, but that only worked for about 1 game. Any suggestions? Sorry for the long post but any help is appreciated.

I'll try that, usually I just use best available dedicated. I'm guessing it could just be servers, but I don't know. It just seems funny that I've been ok and then it starts being unplayable. Thanks.

As of now my problem is solved. I normally just play with a friend, so I just selected "hosting local server" and hosted a game. No problems after that. Thanks for the help.
