Thread: White box where text should be and all black in-game

When I click any of the options on the starting screen, the box that comes up is just pure white. When I finally managed to get into a game after hundreds of random clicks, it was all black except for the items, which were highlighted. Is this a problem with my video card, or something else?

I would try updating your video card drivers to the latest stable version, not a beta.

If that doesn't work, try verifying the integrity of Game Cache by right clicking on L4D on the Steam Library > Properties > Local Files > Verify Integrity of Game Cache.

Does it do this with any other Source Engine games like TF2 or CS:S, or just L4D?

L4D is the only game I have, so there's no way of knowing for sure. I'm doing what you suggested now though, so I'll let you know if that fixes it.
