    Question maps not showing

    Hi everyone...

    Got a problem here..

When i go to join a server and it says that i don't have the map.. ex (suicide blitz) ore whatever map,, i will follow the link to the l4d maps and download it..and i will double click the zip then double click the vpk file and it will then pop up the ad-on installer and i will click ok,, and after it gets done installing. it will say "nameofmap.vpk" has been successfully installed.. then when i start L4d2 i will open the console and type "maps *" and list the maps and it wont be there...

    can someone help?

    Thanks
    Lanshire

If it says that the map has been installed, it likely has. Have you tried joining a server after that and it still says it's not installed? (I've never used a console command to see if I have a map installed... I just try to start a game with that map...)

Krakkens and shit. stop tempting them.

    Kanati..

I will have to try it tomorrow.. i am at work now.. but after i do i will get back to you.

I can start a game without the console command.. by just choosing single player ( add-on) and then map.. I only have 1 map chosen for whatever i am gonna play., I just like to use the console to normally open it.. Its a habit..

But i will try what you said tomorrow and get back to you then.

If nothing else, i will record it and you-tube it so you know what i am talking about.

    Thanks

    Question

    Kanati...

I think i see whats wrong here.. but don't know how to fix it..

Attached is a screenshot of my single player add-ons..

Where the heck are all my campaign maps ( single player) at?...grrrrr

However when i open up my console to play a campaign , i see the second picture attached.

I use to be able to open up all my single player maps threw the console which is what i like to do..

I don't know what i am doing wrong.. I download the maps and double click on them and then the .vpk installs itself..( i assume its in the right folder.), and then the add-on will say that it is installed successfully..
SO i Don't know what i am doing wrong.. it use to work perfectly for a long time.

    Thanks
    Lan

Not sure what to tell ya... You could try verifying the cache first... that doesn't do it for you, delete local files and redownload/install from scratch and see if that fixes it for you. Until you mentioned it I didn't even know you could start a game from console, and I've never had any issues with playing one from the regular UI. Sorry.

    Question

    Kanati..

I appreciate your help. I have deleted steam before ( i think there are certain files that you can download and it will just re-download whats missing) i am gonna have to ask steam again what files they were, because honestly i don't remember.

But yeah you can start a SP ( campaign) from the console.

Just incase you ever want to.. here is how you do it.

Start L4d2 or L4d2 and when your at the main menu hit the " ` " key ( make sure developers mode is enabled.) and type in "bind p toggleconsole" and hit enter then type in " maps *" and it will list them, then type "map Cxxxxx" and it will start to automatically list them for you.. and then just hit enter and off ya go.

    Thanks for your help!
