modding and skinning tutorial plz??
ok so basically i have an idea to replace ellis completely with wheatley, including replacing his voice, the only problem that im facing is that this is my first time attempting this sorta thing and i cant seem to find a simplistic tutorial out there to do this sorta thing, can anyone point me in the right direction?
any help will be very appreciated, thanks

I rarely point someone somewhere else, but in this case I think you'd have a LOT better luck finding that kind of help at one of the L4D modding forums. That's not a simple skin and forget about it mod. That's going to be a rather complicated bit of kit there.

Yeah you are basically replacing a human model with a floaty ball... The sounds are simple. Just replace wav files. But the model thing is not trivial in the least. How will it interact with throwables? guns? melee weapons? You'll have to change the hitbox, which will affect balance.

hmm bummer, well i still think its possible, i just need to take baby steps here. i figured that the sounds wouldnt be that difficult but i dont know how to extract them from the game, i have portal 2 on steam but cant find the sound files. as for the mod, if i can at least get the basics down first by doing a simple replace, ill worry about the throwables, gunes, melee weapons and hitboxes after the fact, i just want to know how to get going.

thats cool, as long as the point gets across, i dont mind. ill concentrate on the sounds after the fact as i recently was taught kinda sorta how to replace them but not extract them from other games.
how about exracting the character himself, can anyone help me with that?
