XBOX - How To Save/Replay Mutations
Ok, so I posted this over on the Steam forums, but I thought you guys may benefit from this too...
For xbox;
To SAVE a current mutation:
1. Go to the dashboard.
2. Go to Settings > System Settings > Memory > Games > Left4Dead2
3. Find User Settings for your GamerTag
4. Copy User Settings to a USB drive
To LOAD a saved mutation:
1. Be offline (internet cable out of xbox), go back to the user settings (found as before, above^) and copy from USB to HD. This will overwrite your current mutation.
2. Load L4D2 and when you get to the 'load profile from' option, select the HD.
3. The game will load, and you will have your saved mutation as playable from the main menu.
4. Go to 'play with friends' and hover over 'make new lobby'
5. Plug cable back in, wait a few seconds, hit xbox Guide button and sign into xbox live
6. Hit Guide button again to go back to game and select the 'make new lobby'
7. Now you're in a friends-only lobby of your chosen mutation, so invite away and play on official dedicated or local server.
OK. So the reason we copy it from the USB to the HD to start with is because once you're back at the Main Menu, the game will auto-update to the new mutation, and overwrite our settings (which doesn't matter, because now you have the saved settings on the USB... Think of the USB as a 'master' copy, one that you DON'T EVER LOAD from, you just make copies of.)
And yes, you can plug the USB into a PC and copy the user settings over into separate named folders for each mutation, then copy them back to the USB to use on xbox whenever you need.
Seemingly though, as with the Confogl issue as of late, I'm not sure how many mutations will work... It seems like there are 'slots' which are used that get used for multiple mutations (ie Flu Season took Confogl's previous 'slot', so lobbies cannot be made until Valve swap them out) I'm unsure of how many there are for Official or Community mutations...
(I think that's the steps & how to find the settings... It's been a few weeks since I did it last...)
OK? Cool.
