Thread: No L4D2 Versus servers on Xbox?

Every time I've tried to play Versus it is set to Official Dedicated, but goes local. FYI, If it says, "connecting to game server", it has gone local.

My guess would be they took them down since they claim the DLC will come out. Maybe they are actually going to improve them. It's a little far fetched, but I can always hope. Does anyone know for sure?

They've been like that for months.
Euro ones down since August '11.
US East Coast since April '12.

There's US West Coast (well, as of around a month ago when I last played) only.

Supposedly, with the DLC release, all servers should be back and fixed properly, according to the devs there was an update needed to fix the Euro ones.

That's all I know (summed up very quickly as I wrote far too much about this issue over the last year, lol)

I tried playing about 10 games of versus last night, and in at least 4 of them it kept trying to reconnect to the server and we didn't even manage to get past the 2nd chapter. I also had 1 game on DC when it kept replaying the intro scene for about 5 mins, then i started already incapped and the AI nearly down too.

I'm really hoping they fix up some of the servers with the release of the DLC

Last night from about 6pm-11pm (on and off due to letting the dogs out) I joined a bunch of lobbies/games in Scavenge.

Out of perhaps 7-8 of them, only one did not randomly reboot us back to Lobby, or give me (us?) the "retrying connection", although I have heard other teammates say they've been seeing "retrying connection" a lot more frequently these days.

Joined two VS games: Dead Center, map 1. Game freezes before we reach elevator on lower level. "Retrying connection" is displayed. Sent back to lobby.

We disband, have someone else host (presumably from U.S. East coast?). Enter the game, everyone's redbar except for host. We make it through three maps, then game freezes and we are all sent back to the main menu.

I spent more time watching a "retrying connection" screen or fighting with redbar lag than I did actually making it through two rounds worth of Scavenge in a single game.

(To put it in perspective, I was happy to have my ass kicked on Rooftop Scavenge because that was the first game all evening where the server didn't lag/disconnect/freeze before Round 2.)

I played a game like that recently. It gave me "retrying connection to server" on every map, and during an Infected attack at that. We ended up losing of course. Oh well.

Not that it mattered here, but "DC" could be Dark Carnival or Dead Center.
