Thread: LAG , LAG and More LAG Help needed please XBOX

I just moved into a new house and I have Comcast Cable my last Speed test was DL-38.63.MBPS UL-5.63, every time I join any game I always come in at 2 yellow bars or on red bar with lag all over there skipping and bouncing all over and I cant seem to get a fluid smooth game going , Now in the last place I lived I had the same Comcast but much lower Speeds almost half of what I have now and I would be able to Join any game well 90% of the time with out this problem I am confused if I have better speeds shouldn't my game be better ?.

Can someone please help me with this is there something I need to do to my router ? is the a Valve problem ?

This is for my XBOX 360

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The servers are terrible on xbox.

There's no US East Coast.
There's no (well, incredibly rare you'll get one) European servers.
There are only US West Coast available.

BUT. Most games are going through to local servers, which is probably what you're experiencing. You can tell when you're in the lobby, even if 'Official Dedicated' is selected, when the host starts the game, in the top left corner, if it changes to 'connecting to..' - it's going to a local server.

So yeah, most games are hideously laggy on xbox at the moment.

It'll theoretically be fixed when the DLC drops on the 24th of this month.

Yeah Thx Zencats I am looking forward to that DLC, and hopefully they will fix this by adding more servers

Yeah, the only things the devs have said about it are that a 'patch was required'...

I can only imagine that somehow the server addresses are hard-coded into the game, so they need to update the code for the ones they've done 'maintenance' on or added new ones, or whatever...?!

Pretty sure they wont bother releasing the DLC with the game in this state, so they may be 'back up' and working properly shortly before the DLC is released, or on the actual day...

Glad you know you more about this stuff then most people I have asked, and I have asked so many and no one knows JACK, thanks for the help,
Its a shame that a game this popular wouldn't have separate servers to accommodate, or maybe I'm wrong about how many people like this game on XBOX and its just not worth it to valve to put up an east coast server, but it would be nice, hell I would even donate a buck per month for a server if others would too

I'm on mid-East region just above the U.S. border, and I still get semi-lag in most games because 50% of the players are on East Coast, and those who aren't, get lagged out by those who are.

During the past two weeks it's been extremely rare to enter a lobby and wait less than 10-15 seconds just to get a game going.

Absolutely horrendous. Hoping this is fixed on July 24th, oh dear god, please let that be true...

Does the game work fine on singleplayer for you?

When playing online, if you're going into a game from lobby, does it change to 'Connecting to game...' (top left of lobby screen)...?

When in-game, get the scores up (hold back button) - do you have a red bar? Do all players have a red bar apart from 1 (the host)?


You may just be experiencing the horrendous lag that is caused by about 90% of games going to local servers at the moment...

It'll either be that, or the way your new router is set up.
(For me to get a stable connection, I had to change the modulation type, set up a static IP & port forward)
