Thread: How do you download Left 4 Dead add ons?

I went to l4dmaps.com and downloaded some maps... but after the download gets done, it doesn't do the rest on it's own. It wants me to like select how to open it, be it through WordPad or Chrome or something... none of these options even work. It's ridiculous.

How do you even download Left 4 Dead add ons?

They're usually .vpk files (the addon) inside a zip folder (compressed).

What you need is an un-zipping program, I suggest 7Zip - 7-Zip


Download and install that, and the icon for the downloaded file should change to a 7zip one.

Now, double-click the .zip file and it'll open in 7zip.

You'll see the .vpk file in the program, so just drag and drop that to your addons folder...

Programs (x86) > Steam > steamapps > common > left 4 dead 2 > left4dead2 > addons


Then open Steam and play L4D2!
