So is there anyway we can just run two instances on the central box and skip the east coast box? Seems no one is benefitting.

If you listen to some people the central box is shit and horrible and we evidently don't know how to set one up... Or is it now the good one and east is the bad one? I've never seen either be anything but good (yes they've needed restarted occasionally to clear up lag spike as was the case last night)... or there's a DDOS going on that caused the east box to universally suck while it was being taken care of. But I consistently get better pings to both boxes than the old one. And I've played probably equally on both servers.

Why does it not benefit ? Not sure. Generally pings are higher and yesturday we had lag issues. We have a fair amount of central and west coasters. Seems like the Atlanta server just brings complaints.

Well personally I don't care the easy pings me at 60 and cent at 50 so it doesn't matter to me. There was some noticeable spikes yesturday that even caused connectivity issues yesturday . Like I said i feel like most of our zombie crowd is cent mid west or pac so imo wed get more out of anotjer central server. These are just My observations though , I'm not here to complain just making a suggestion. Maybe others will weigh in.

Have never heard any complaints about the servers for a very long time.

Yea I was there for that game yesterday Hocus, and I was messaging Kanati while we were lagging all over the place and even got disconnected from the server for 10 seconds. Kanati said he would restart the server after we finished the game. I didn't play again to see if it had fixed the issue.

All I know is that when we get a lobby together, we usually pick the Central server, and when we pick the East server some voice their distaste. Having two servers in different locations makes one the preferable and the other the "special circumstance". And now that we are getting multiple games in a night at the same time, one lobby gets the Central and one gets the East. Minor complaints, but it's nothing huge. As long as both servers are running smoothly.

Hantuduppy was uploading shit during one game and that managed to lag EVERYONE out badly. Once he killed all the uploading everything was fine. Not sure about the other issue last night though.

If it gets to be an issue with servers being busy, maybe we can bring up central #2, but I doubt we'll kill the east server.

So - pardon my relative L4D experience (though that's not really relevant in the scheme of things).....but

We previously had 1 server for everything. It was badly overloaded (network and storage latency). So we procured, and built out, and migrated everything to two fresh (and new) servers.

Performance, from everything we've heard aside from some isolated examples that Kanati mentioned, has been almost uniformly lauded.

If you're in the central location, wouldn't it stand to reason that you'd see better pings to the central server? As would the west coasters.....?

Whereas those on the east coast (and even some early evening central players) would get good ping to the East server? Makes sense to me....

Yeah exactly. And since the vast majority is central, mid west , or pac we would get more out of the central servers naturally. Generally, most players ping higher in the east box and there seems to be more issues ( for lack of a better word) there. Like I said personally it doesn't. Affect me I'm not ping shopping here in simply stating the crowd prefers the central server and I personally think wed benefit from having another central server.

I see. Ok. But stating a preference for one != skip (kill) the other unless I'm missing something and for what it's worth, "representing the group" is tough to do if there's not been a noticeable outcry from the group (again unless I'm missing something).
