    Post ServerBrowser Font Size

I thought I would post this here since it may be related and it was one of the top links I found in google.

I figured out where and how to change the font and size of the text in the L4D server browser (as well as the console). I have no idea about what font is originally being used or if it relates to Future Rot, but it is called Trade Gothic Bold in the following files.

Locate the file L4D360UIScheme.res in the Resource folder and open it with Notepad. In the Font section, which is about 25% down, change the "Default" entry from "Trade Gothic Bold" to another font, I used "Arial". Tahoma or Verdana might work well, too. One I put in Arial, the text inside the box for the server browser tabs became instantly legible. I also changed the "antialias" field from 1 to 0, so it is a little sharper on my display. Try for yourself.

You might want to back up the entire folder before you start editing things, or at least the files you alter.

There is also some trickiness that might be going on: it is possible that the above process doesn't affect ALL the tabs. A while back I had changed the font, but from what I remember it might have only affected the LAN tab, which is what I needed at the time. I did this by fixing the file SourceScheme.res. The thing is that multiple files like this have almost exactly the same entries, but affect different things. So if the first file didn't fix the right tab, try this one.

SourceScheme.res is the file that affects the console font, which I assume is instead going by the "ConsoleText" entry, which is about 40% down.

There is also ClientScheme.res with similar font fields, but I don't know what it for.

The above is only for L4D1.

For Left 4 Dead 2, a post on the Steam forum said to rename stubble-bold.vfont and it would not load the ugly small font any more, but it might affect a lot more than just the server browser.
