Teammates vs Bad Guys

I was looking around the threads in the forum and I didn't see anything, so I was wondering....Is anyone else having trouble telling the difference between your teammates and the enemies in multiplayer games of CoD4? I am red-green color blind and I think your teammates have green names and your enemies have red names. Is this something we can change in our preferences? I am pretty new to CoD4 and haven't been able to recognize the uniforms yet so I have been having to rely on the names.....I am getting tired of letting the enemy walk right up to me and then shoot me in the face. I am sure the other guy is wondering what the hell is going on also....not that he is complaining though LOL.

Well this is advice although it may not be great advice....for now since we are a friendly fire off server....when in doubt light them up! Don't worry about killing your teammates. Now the draw back of this is that if you don't have a silencer on your gun you will show up as a red dot on the enemy radar. I don't have a hard time differenciating uniforms myself....after a while I think you will be able to as well, they are quite distinct.

For the Sas and Marines the enemys are anyone with a mask unless they have a helmet only one form of spets has a helmet and he has allot of dark green easy to spot. As the Spets look for anyone with a helmet although I think there is an Sas with only a ski mask not sure. But take biscuits advice just light em up lol I like how some of em freak out when you do it then get all mad

im red/green deficient as well and i dont use the names because, like you, they look the same color

. what has helped me is paying attention to what squad i join, and intentionally keep reminding myself the first round or two, or three

of what team i am on. this will make me remember what the badguys look like for the rest of the map. sometimes i get confused and start shooting teamates but i dont hesitate to shoot someone, friendly or not.

You would think that the developers would not make incredibly stupid mistakes like this, when there are already dozens of games out there using red and blue (presumably for this reason). If I were you I would petition them to patch it, as an option, at least.

This would be my solution, too - at least long term. Short term, I'm not sure there's anything you can do about it, other than play on FF off servers (Like TTP) and, as someone else suggested, light everyone up you're suspicous about.

Hell, I'll even help you petition the publishers about this. As someone who's been in the software development game before, I'm not sure this is something that, to be honest, I would have thought about.

Man, BY, I feel for ya bro... I'm sure someone will make some mod to change this... Hint.. Hint.. It's not a huge change, but someone needs to do it. 1 and 3 men are red-green color blind. Keep FF off, Most servers have FF off so I guess thats a plus for you... But it would be nice im sure for you to see the names in a different color then red and green, or at least blue and red....

The nature of the game is to follow realism. Anything they could do to make it easier for color-blind people (like myself) to distinguish the teams would take away from the realism (Do you really want a sniper wearing bright colors laying down in the grass....?).

As someone color-blind that plays this game, you get used to it. You'll still make mistakes, but it's more about looking at the headgear design than anything else.
