    Not sure why then. As long as it worked after you restarted, it's all good then it seems.

    In L4D1 on Death Toll's second chapter, sometimes zombies can get glitched into the roof of the train/safehouse and prevent the next level from loading. Maybe something like that happened here, although I don't think you can actually get on the roof of the safehouse.

    Try clearing your Xbox 360 Cache, installing L4D to the Hard Drive or just giving the disc a good old clean.
