COD4 1.6 patch ERROR...HELP PLEASE

I download the file then I click to intall and I get this error

"error reading setup initialization file"

I have deleted and re downloaded...same thing
I have downloaded from different places....same thing

I bought the game from a store too if that helps.

Did you download the full patch or the incremental?

If it is the full you probably need to delete the other patch(es) first. If it is incremental you need to make sure you have the other patch(es) first.

Well I need the incromental because I have all the way up to 1.5....do you know where that one is?

Hmm. When it first came out I could swear there was an incremental patch, but now it says there is not. I have the game from Steam, so they auto update. You might need to uninstall the other patch(es), and install 1.6, but I will let someone who has a CD version to see if they know anything else.

I had updated to 1.5 prior to 1.6 and you need the incremental patch. I'm not sure how you could install the full patch without removing and than reinstalling the game you could use the full patch.I think you can still download the incremental patch but if you can't find it i do still have the incremental patch on my PC.

After some deleting of old patches and what not I think I got it workin!! :10

Huh, I downloaded the full 1.6 patch, and whne I tried installing it, it said to me something along the lines of "you have patch 1.5 installed, would you like to remove it so 1.6 may install?"

I didn't trust the incremental, as from what I had heard it was a little buggy.

I'm a little late, but it looks like you got yourself working in the end.
