Offlimit Areas/Glitch
I've been wondering what would be considered an offlimit area? The only spot I know that is offlimits are the Arches in mp_district and considered a glitch/exploit.Are there anyother places that I should know about in other maps?Another question from me is what makes it a glitch/exploit?This way I can know where I can go and where I can not.Anyone that plays COD4 knows theres tons of grey areas that can be reached by questionable methods such as jumping above the wrecked cars in ambush to get to the HQ.I was recently kicked from a different server for doing this and I was wondering what was ttp's position in this matter.
enlightenment would be Appreciated

Re: Offlimit Areas/Glitch
The most logical way I have seen it enforced was if you can be seen and shot without any problems then it isn't a big deal. Now there have been glitches in past COD series games where you could get somewhere and shoot out but no one could shoot in, and that is a problem.

The biggest question to ask yourself is can you pursue the objective from said position. If you are attempting to find a good camping spot just to get kills then you probably don't want to be there, regardless of how you got there. As for glitch spots I am sure an admin can answer if there are any specific spots that are questionable.

its most definitely a glitch if you cant see what you are standing on or had to jump in something you can not see to get there.

For instance, the main problem with the area on top of the arches on mp_district is that it takes a long time to get up there and then the players never come down until they get killed. That is called camping.
If you were to jump up there, run along the arches, jump into market and push C flag? Maybe that would be ok. But why on earth would you take the extra time? Why not just run along the ground.
Getting up to most of these questionable spots take time. Very few people can do it perfectly on the first try. Those that can will immediately draw admin attention because it will look like they have been practicing it (thus marking them as a suspicious player). So if it takes a while to get up there then why not just find a safe spot that is easier to get to?
Bottom line, just save yourself the grief, the warning and the kick and play the map like it was intended.
HOWEVER:
There are exceptions to this rule. On mp_ambush it is very acceptable to jump up on the cars to get to the balcony, or jump on the air conditioning to get up to the water tank HQ.

Re: Offlimit Areas/Glitch
There are generally 3 questions you should ask yourself if you think you are using an exploit.
1. Did you have to watch a video on youtube called "Exploits and cheats for COD4"?
2. Do you have to walk on invisible ledges, etc to get to said position?
3. Am I not helping my team in the 2 minutes it takes me to get to my secret spot?
If you answer yes to any of these questions it is probably an exploit.
Oh and if you have to think about it it probably is an exploit

Re: Offlimit Areas/Glitch
i agree with all this crap, but there are some spots, ambush for instance where you can get all the toward teh back on roof tops from water tank area and then there is a center court yard with a ladder leading up, im thinking they would have no put a ladder then and let you rott if they did not at some point think you should be back there.
