Ya know, I bought the game at Walmart and never has it asked me to link the game to steam...... Can or do I need to?

I am, but you're the one replaced certain words with the word, men. Does Biotch know?

As for Steam, if you do that, then you never have to worry about the disk again, I believe. Steam will also auto-update the game for you like with TF2.

biotch nows the perfect time to pick it up! like 5 or 6 people have just started playing also so we can all take classes together from the pros :P

You can just add it manually from the main window. Should be something like "Add Non-Steam Game" and you can see a list of all your games installed and just pick COD4 - Single or Mutliplayer, or both. You don't need to do it, just makes it easier to track you down since Steam is so widely used by our other TTPers here.

And I'm not sure if it'll update or not as I tried to get in the other day and I was not up to date (been awhile since I played) so I had to update manually. I've never used the CD after the install either way so you should be good to go, just need to remember to keep it up to date.
