mic level
Have you tested your mic levels?
Do you have a boost set out of the game?
Are you sure your team can actually hear you?
Are you telling people you can't hear them?
I ask these now because I am sick of people talking and having to strain to hear them. A lot of people seem to 'talk a lot' but I can't hear a word they are saying. The good thing about Reg Mode is you can see someone trying to talk and and can say "Hey _____, I can't hear you, turn up your mic."
But it seems like a lot of people don't say this...and don't comment about how low someone's volume is.
For me, I have to go to my mic properties and set a +20 boost or you will never hear me, and at +10 I sound like a whisper. For other games (TF2) I have to turn that boost off or I will just reverb and drive everyone crazy. I find it funny how many times I have come into cod4 without changing my level back to it's boost and never been told that I can't be heard.
Take a proactive step on the server guys...if you can barely hear someone, say something...If you want to know if you can be heard in good relation to the game FX.
Some people I hear loud as day and others seem to be 10 feet aways from their mic...lets start making sure everyone has their levels at a good spot.

Re: mic level
please be aware that there is an issue with CoD4's VoIP system. i have a very decent headset, with the mic boom about 2 inches from my mouth. i have every setting (gains) turned up to their max, in windows, and in game settings. some people hear me just fine, and some people bitch about not being able to hear me. anyone who's played with me knows that i don't mutter. so again, please be aware that there is an issue with the CoD4's VoIP system.

Re: mic level
yes, but some people have the same problem as me where they have to turn their mic boost up for this game only and forget to do it...so if you see someone tryig to talk, just say something if you don't hear them.
I hate the cod4 voip system...but some people just don't have their boost up on the outside...and if we start getting people to problem check and not just assume it is the cod4 voip system we might be able to hear just a few more people.

Re: mic level
I have my settings perfect for every game but CoD4, so when I go in CoD4 I realize that no one can hear me, so I have to alt + Tab out to change my windows settings, then I realize that my windows settings are all the way up, so I actually go to my steam settings and change my mic volume there, and it changes the mic volume in CoD4 which is ridiculous.

my mic volume was very low on my old pc when I first started playing COD4...since I've gotten my NEW PC and Headset..my shit is alot more clear. I dunno what the actual problem was but i was always trying to fix it and for some reason..I could never get it to work right.

My mike is generally muted out of game; COD4 and other MP games I play, unmute my mike when I start them up without unchecking the mute box in my sound options.
enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P
Bigdog-Sweet home Alabama you are an idiot.

Re: mic level
Yeah it's like that with me too, I have to yell into my mic for people to hear me and because I dont' live alone screaming into my mic in order for people to hear me isn't an option, does anyone know if there's a decent third party program I could use?
another question, can any of this be changed server-side?
