in my personal opinion, on our servers, absolutely. you'll find that most of our rotation is SnD, as that gametype promotes the most teamplay from all the rest. you'll find that if you can get away from the immediate nade spams at the beginning of the maps, you'll have much better rounds when people don't know you're coming. when on defense, you normally find a comfortable spot near either point, and watch and listen to see where the plant will be. i don't see as much need on defense for silence, but i still use it.

shotties have a range, which limit you. unfortunately, there are only a few maps that have a lot of CQB (close quarter combat). i personally have one, but it's for when i'm just completely bored or frustrated.

    i have 3 kits i mainly use:
there's my "piss everyone off" kit, which is a tubed golden ak with stopping power, and last stand. i use it for general purpose killing on non-SnD maps. bomb carriers hate me for it
i have my "ultra silent" kit, which is a silenced p90 and .45, claymores, dead silence, and uav jammer. it's used for SnD, as there's nothing like the enemy not knowing where you are. the claymores are for defensive positions, usually where people least expect them and for flank coverage on offense.
my third is nothing more than for heli-duty. having such a deadly primary kit, the helicopters are my nemesis. because i'm useless against these wall-hacking, deep impact helicopters, i'll normally announce that i'm going on "heli-duty", and take it down. the only thing notable about this kit is the gripped m60 LMG, with stopping power and better hip fire.

my other two kits are my shottie, and whatever random challenge i'm working on.
