    another noob question

I got the dvd,but I have a couple of questions..

Now that I have a cd key,can I dl the game from Steam so I dont have to have the disc in? I'm pretty new to Steam as well.

OR is there another way to install that i missed,so I don't have to keep the disc in?

Sadly not. You can only download games from Steam if you purchased the game (and thus the license key) from them. However, you only need the disc in the drive for the single player game, so once you're done with that you don't need to have it to play online.

How do I start it then? Right now, since there is no desktop shortcuts, I start my disc up manually. W@W doesn't seem to show up in my Windows Program List, but if I go to "uninstall program",it appears.

    ok....

    Its still not working...

For whatever reason....nothing is showing up in the Program files...no CoD:W@W,no Activision, nothing. I did a C drive search....nothing. I then tried to follow your instructions,by opening the files on the disc, and created a desktop shorty for multiplayer. I then removed my disc, and tried the shortcut......it prompted me to insert the disc.

Without the program files showing up in Windows,I cant even link the game to my Steam acct. I guess they really want me to have my disc in when I play....effers.

    Re: another noob question

I would suggest a re-install. Backup your multiplayer profile and uninstall/ re-install; choose typical installation and the icons and Program files should install. My DVD version certainly did so, at least.

Here's a little utility to backup your profile automatically: http://files.filefront.com/CoD+WaW+P.../fileinfo.html

    Re: another noob question

Thanks for all the help guys.

I tried the fresh install (and THANK YOU VERY MUCH Viktor....I wouldn't have known that I would have to save my profile :9). Still no program files or shorty.....oh well,I can manually start the game, and it works just fine....I'm done fixing something thats really not broken.
