Joining games and serve disconnects

Anyone else had problems with join a game form and invite, also having our servers disconnect everyone when your game gets close to the final?

I've never been able to join on invite. It loads up the game but doesn't try connecting. I gotta load it through the game.

Last night was the first time I had not been able to join an already in progress game. Visuvius was sending me invites for the better part of 30 minutes with no joy. Steam was acting Wonky last night.

Yep. About one in four times on TTP servers.

Possible LS issue?

the joining a game on an invite is not something with lonestar because it happens even if you are invited into a lobby, pre server

I don't think its an LS issue, as LS barely runs during a map change (I was watching it on the TF2 servers to see what it would do when those were timing out).

My unproven hypothesis for why it times just for L4D now is that multiple L4D servers happen to be changing maps at the same time, and the later ones get starved for CPU/disk throughput and therefore don't load the map within 30 seconds and cause mass disconnects.
