    Training by the end of the weekend?

    i noticed they doing scheduled maintenance on the auth. servers, which doesn't mean They are working on that per say but it would seem like it.

    I hope it is up this weekend, definitely want to get the chance to complete it, since i haven't yet since the game came out and only done like two of the training missions . Plus it might help to hopefully lower the amount of newbish players.

    I am not trying to argue, just a little bit confused. How will training lower the amount of ignorant players?

    they lifted the training requirements = people on the server that don't know how to use the weapons, how to heal a fallen comrade, use the grenade launcher properly or even toss a hand grenade for that matter. They don't know how to clear a jam. All of that is covered in basic training. Without the training people don't even know to hit space bar to heal someone or the appropriate triage to use on a fallen comrade.

    Having the training required again will have some nice perks:

    Biggest change will be for the failed medics out there...

    No more being left on the ground because the person chose the wrong first aid option while trying to revive you. This mostly occurs because people don't know the answers, because they haven't done the training or spent a couple of minutes to look it up. It will still happen occasionally because selecting the correct answer while being shot at can be a challenge.

    Wound/Condition --- Treatment
    Pale Skin --> Smelling Salts
    Labored Movement --> Splint
    Shallow Breathing --> Oropharyngeal Airway
    Weak Pulse --> Saline IV

    Also no more idiots on the DMR slot.

    It is a little frustrating when people who have no idea how to use the DMR slot grab it thinking they'll go be a lone wolf sniper. The slot is designed to work as part of the squad, laying down accurate rapid fire to assist their team.
    From the AA website:
    http://www.americasarmy.com/intel/roles.php?id=9
    "The SDM or Squad Designated Marksman supports the squad by laying down accurate rapid fire at distances beyond the normal engagement range of the squad's rifleman. The average rifleman is trained to engage targets up to 300 meters away. A sniper engages targets beyond 600 meters while the SDM is trained to engage targets in "No Man's Land," the area between the capabilities of the two. Although the SDM receives much of the same training, he is not a sniper. [b]The SDM is a rifleman and deploys as a member of a squad. He maneuvers and engages with his squad and never operates alone.[b] To qualify to become a Squad Designated Marksman, you must score at least 36 or higher during Basic Rifle Marksmanship training.

    Fewer ROE artists on the M320 Grenade Launchers because of the required training will help people learn how to accurately fire it.

    Good read if you haven't checked it out:

    EDIT: actually here is whats going on right now

    http://forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?t=304298
    We are in the middle of a maintenance period for AA3. While we update and expand the database environment, we have enabled Standby mode which allows you to play while we finish up the maintenance.

    Some notes:

    * All servers will run in "authorized" mode (i.e. they don't accrue honor)
    * There is no password validation
    * You will not be able to create new soldiers
    * If you created a soldier very recently (within the last week or so) you will not be able to play with that soldier
    * No statistics will be kept regarding game play
    * Every soldier is marked as having completed basic training

    We do not currently have a timeframe for when the update will be completed, but are working to complete the work as quickly as we can.

    Please note, this information applies to AA3 only, AA2 remains fully operational.

    Thank you for your patience.

    from the deploy client

    http://forum.americasarmy.com/viewtopic.php?t=304554
    Thank you all for your patience while we completed this phase of our maintenance period. All systems are now operational, and this additional expansion will support upcoming patches. We plan on making additional enhancements, but will be able to do so without any downtime. We will continue to monitor activity and make improvements where necessary.

    We are also completing testing on the latest patch that will allow us to enable Training again, and look forward to providing you with more information on that shortly.

    Thank you.
