Thread: Mic not working

When I join a AA3 server my mic stops working.

When I load the game I go into the settings menu and my mic tests ok. As soon as I join a server the mic stops working and no longer works in the settings menu. Any ideas?

I'm running XP and a Turtle Beach Ear Force AK-R8. The headset has an inline USB sound card but I don't know if that makes any difference.

Have u tried changing the in-game sound settings? try optimal or generic hardware.

Also figure out if is is push to talk or voice activated. If Push to Talk, make sure you are using the right key.


Mine on the other hand is the exact oppposite, in testing..it doesn't register, in game it works fine.

does it have a mute button? I have a similar setup and the game mutes my mic on start up by default. After the map loads I have to unmute it for it to work.

I've tried all the above suggestions with no result.

I just don't think my headset is compatible with AA3

do you have onboard sound? if so, try just using that instead of your sound card. never have been a fan of turtle beach sound cards. i like creatives better.

I do have onboard sound but I don't have another headset to try it out on.

The headset I have connects to the USB sound card (via a proprietary connector) then the sound card connects to the PC.

Looks like I will have to play without a mic or just not play at all...
