I just think it was great for them to make us pay $50 to beta test this game format for Valve.

Must we make this anyother L4D2 hate thread...

They had some ideas after the deadline made by the players and wanted to get their ideas out there fast. These people have to be paid, the TF2 patches probably had some sort of idea like ads on the steam forums or something that got them their paycheck.

I'm sorry you don't agree with me, and that you think you are being robbed. But that won't change the fact that a new game is coming out. Get over it.

    bla blah

Valve has proven they can be profitable and pay their people in the midst of releasing gigs and gigs of new content (Seen any of the TF2 class updates?)

It could have been done and this whole thing is very un-valve.

That's what's frustrating. It smells like EA or SOE.

I think it would be quite Valve of them to end up charging all pre-orders $5 for the game. No chance in hell that will actually happen but a girl guy can dream right?

The excuse is that it's too much and too many changes to just release in patches like they've been doing with TF2 - and I can believe that if the AID 2.0 is as new-and-improved as they're saying it is.

I'm fairly certain everything else could have been done with patches, however.

Re: L4D2: New items and Campaigns

The real question is, how much incentive are we gonna have to play the old L4D once we adapt to the new one?

Sure, Valve said they'll be releasing more content for the old one (and both Crash Course and other ones mentioned will prove that), but how long will community support last for it before the modders and mapmakers decide to move on to L4D2 and its more varied options? The thing that makes me wonder is the new AID - it sounds like it's going to be a lot more robust, which should allow mapmakers more interesting options in their maps. If that's true, why would you even bother making a map for L4D if L4D2 is available?

Re: L4D2: New items and Campaigns

A discount for people who bought L4D would be nice, sort of like an "upgrade" discount.

Also a "quick" mode that grabs a couple levels a campaign would be nice, the new crash course for L4D wasn't what I was hoping it would be. I'd like a mode for a 30 minute game for all the content.

Re: L4D2: New items and Campaigns

I'll probably be sticking with L4D1 for a week or three, since MW2 comes out 11/10 and I'll be shelling money out for that first

Plsu there's the two new custom campaigns coming out on Halloween - Cold Case and Dead Before Dawn.
