    Melee or Pistols?

So, if given the choice, which would you choose?

Please note that by melee weapons, it means any melee other than chainsaw.

Oh, and I understand that certain people choose different types for different game-modes.
If that's the case, base your decision off of your favorite mode.

And I'm sorry if this is a double-post, I'm not in the mood to go wading through pages of content.

Different options for different maps and situations but all in all, I still love my dualies...

I use all melee especially chainsaw.

They are so useful when it comes to hordes. When Bigdog is stuck aiming his pistol rounds I am swiping my axe and making sure there is nothing in front of the team.

Magnum FTW. Melee is onlgood for versus and non-expert. Magnum is good in everything.

That's another question I wanted to have answered; why do people *cough cough bigdog cough* say that melee weapons are worthless in expert? Is it because you are often in-capped, and an extra pistol or magnum will come into play more often? Or is there some much more subtle and far more genius solution?

People take more hits from CIs while using melee weapons simply because you have to stay close to hit your targets... and punching them is actually counterproductive because it knocks them out of swing range, meaning you have to go chase them (and potentially get shot by teammates) to actually kill them. One of the few definitive improvements over the original is the CI's AI... they are now a lot better at attempting to surround players, which means it's very easy for one or two to sneak up on you while you're chopping down a bunch of others. At least with pistols you can punch them away, backpedal, and shoot them while they're down. Melee weapons are pretty useful on Realism, though, since dualies are much harder to use since they don't do a lot unless you get headshots.

Regardless, though, the deagle beats all of the other secondary weapons, particularly in Expert (and especially Expert Realism) - it's an instant kill against any kind of CI, regardless of whether you hit them in the head or the pinky toe. The deagle is also extremely effective while incapped, particularly at saving teammates that are being pinned (especially by hunters and smokers.)

I hit a charger with 3 shots from the magnum and he didnt drop. I play vs mostly so melee for me there since it is more likely you will get boomed. In expert melee is too risky. I prefer the dualies and just go for headshots.

    Deagle.

In Vs. It provides a MUCH better staying power for a team that gets incapped a lot. You can fire accurate, high damage rounds even while down.

In Expert Realism it is THE BEST weapon BAR NONE. No other weapon can one hit CI so effectively, with good accuracy and a fair rate of fire. Unlimited ammo is icing on the cake.

I MIGHT trade a deagle for a Katana or a Night Stick if I know there's going to be a tank, or a crescendo coming up.

Best secondary? Probably. Best weapon? Not by a long-shot. If you're going for one-hitting zombies almost every shot, your best bet is the sniper rifle. Huge clips, amazing accuracy, and does just as much damage as the Magnum.

Taking a sniper rifle really hurts your ability to handle hordes, though, and hordes are the most dangerous thing in Expert (since SI AI is a joke), except maybe a tank in a bad place (i.e. a place where you can't just light it and run.) The deagle lets you take a shotgun for those hordes while still giving you plenty of oomph for the small packs here and there.
