Fucking ARGH

Okay, my sound of out so on the main menu I typed console "snd_rebuildaudiocache." Menu went into a generic load screen and then my game froze, forcing me to ctrl+alt+del out. Now every time I enter the game the menu loads into the load screen and the game freezes up.

go to your game... right click the game... choose properties... local files... verify integrity of such and such...

Forgot to add: my sound wasn't actually out in-game, my speakers accidentally came unplugged. So the rebuild is sitting there not loading and freezing up. The verify didn't work and I didn't expect it to.

I don't know what the fuck is going on. I can't even uninstall the game for reinstallation. Every time I click "delete local content" only the shortcut disappears.

Could try deleting the L4D2 folder in Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common

I think that's my only option. But I have a nasty feeling it'll backfire. Deleting an entire game folder has backfired before.

When my game was broken, I actually had to rename my whole game folder and dl (or copy) most of everything from scratch. Sucked major bollucks when I had a 100kb/s dl speed.

oh snap dude, that sux...do the games inside steam actually register entries in the registry? I've never had to check so i'm not sure what/if any issues you may encounter just "deleting" your game folder.
