"MUST READ" Threads and Articles for New Players
Here are some key threads and articles that I'd strongly advise new players to read.

We've had a lot of new people coming into the game lately. A lot of you are playing amongst yourselves, which is good, but in the process I see a lot of bad habits being learned.. and if you go up a gainst a team of the more seasoned players, those bad habits are gonna kill your team. Take the time to read these, and then try to follow their advice.

Re: "MUST READ" Threads and Articles for New Players
The biggest thing I see from new guys is reaction time and separation issues from both Sv and from the common infected.
You gotta think of playing sv like driving. Always check your mirrors(teammates) just to be safe. It's best to do when you've hit corners or places you know you team will end up slowing down. Anywhere you'd check you're mirrors if you where driving down the path you're on in the game. Just stop moving and count out loud in mic how many you see, especially if it's realism. Doing this stuff goes a long way in the end, and keeps people together.
Don't shop if you're still new. Only follow. Set up before the game who you'll stick with and stay with them alway(unless they say otherwise). As a new player you need to learn the key points of the map, and you can't if you're off to the side lookin for pills.
This is going to contradict what I just said, but its only for people who know the map and can't deal with common. Lead the rush. The way this game works is that the first person usually sets of the common, but it's the 2nd and 3rd guy that get chased. so if you're having a difficult time dealing with hordes then being in the lead is best. However, this comes at a cost. When leading you have to be extra careful of where your teammates are. You're also a bigger target for boomers, and odds are you'll get hit everytime with one. Which leads me to my next point...
The best set up for new guys is long range weapon(smg, M16, sniper, ak, scar) and Melee weapon(Melee weapons clear out hordes better than any gun in the game). After you get this set-up, corner up. The best advice you'll get is that you need to corner up. If you don't you'll take 2x as much dmg from common cause they'll be surrounding you.
And last, You have to use your agility as a sv against the common. Many people don't think about it. Common infected don't jump. They climb, and that makes them slower. They also have a hard time picking the fastest route to you. Jump over props, use corners, and put as much shit between you and the commons as possible till you decide to turn and fight. This goes along the corner up advise, when boomed, seek high ground. Get onto something, or behind it. Force common to work to get to you, and they'll be easier to deal with. This same concept goes with the tank too. When the tank comes in find a open place with a lot of things to run around, and he'll go down fast.
Ok that's enough, or soon Walker will force me into makin an Article

Re: "MUST READ" Threads and Articles for New Players
Also, the newest member shouldn't be the 4th person in line, because the common, after being scared up by the 1st and second tend to run at the 2nd and third, but by the time they get there, it's the 4th in line who gets mobbed, and if the least experienced player is that 4th body, he's much more prone to be smoked or jockeyed, especially if he's mired down in CI.
Put your least experienced in the number 2 spot. This way he/she can cover the lead and learn the routes. If you have two vetran players, put the twitchiest in the lead, since that person will have the best chances of stopping a boomer from the front before it booms. The other vet should be in the rear making sure the group is accounted for. 3rd man should be watching the 4th's back, and should always have pretty good awareness where the 4th man is, so that if boomed he can still move in the right direction to rescue.
This game might seem basic and fun, but it's actually way more complex than a newcommer might realize.

Keep up with the leader.
Look back a lot! If I am third I normally run backwards. You may see me run into crap but I am always looking back for that last guys to make sure he isnt getting smoked. I have really enjoyed playing with all the new guys but I have seen several teams very split. Right now most of the games havent been realism, you can get a little loose but that shit wont fly in realism. Reaction to SI needs to be fast, should not get hit more than 2x. Thorsens guide is an excellent piece to read.
Play some coop or single player to learn the maps. I played coop the other night and laughed at someone for saying, hey look over here there is a building with stuff upstairs. Learning the maps will be the biggest help.
