Captains
I would like to propose a change to the captains system occasionally used when setting up RVS games. Under the current system of fixed picks, whichever captain gets the 1st pick is almost guaranteed to end up with the more skilled team, assuming the captains pick based on skill like they should rather then picking friends first.
What I would like to see happen instead of this is a new system of alternating picks, where Captain A gets picks 1, 4, and 5 while Captain B gets picks 2, 3, and 6. I think that is more likely to produce teams with comparable skill in the majority of games, especially ones that are rather top-heavy.
Let's get some thoughts.

Re: Captains
Yeah, but Fate and I haven't been getting along very well lately. I haven't been in a game where things were very even in about 2 weeks, and I've been on the losing side of the random draw for about a week straight now. And the last 3 nights it's been VERY slanted towards the other team.
Hell, earlier tonight I had to try and take on 3 people that made the finals in our tourney, Scrum, Thorsen, and Knee. That was painful, to say the least. Me and TruDom were trying to figure out who we'd killed in a past life.

Yeah I was part of that and not that I'm completely against random I think it's more likely that even teams will occur if captains are used. Just my opinion. Also a captain system as proposed by morning would hopefully increase those odds so we can have really good games that are fun for both sides.

Re: Captains
I'm usually pro-random, but there have been some very unbalanced teams resulting from that the last few games I've played, and it's not fun for the team that gets the short end of the stick. I continue to play in those situations, but after 2 rounds where we've been killed MAYBE halfway through the maps and the opposing team has made the saferoom each time, you can be damn sure I'm not going to be happy about the situation, and likely not try as hard as I might if the game were more even and therefore interesting.
