I don't blank out to a black screen, I will just remain frozen while the game gos on. I definitely think it is my fan overheating. I talked with my brother and he told me to also regress my Nvidia driver, because this just started happening like a week or so ago and that is about the time I updated my nvidia drivers. Need help with how to regress my driver.
All your help is much appreciated. Thank you so much.

Re: Need Help-Freezing all the time
The advice here is good but something you just said made me think. Exactlly how did you update your video driver? From nvidia or from your PC mfg? Go to your mfg website, find the downloads for YOUR PC and dl the video driver for YOUR EXACT nvidia card. If that is how you updated in the first place, thats correct, but the site should also have the previous driver, dl it to your desktop. Then uninstall your current driver, reboot and install the driver on your desktop. Next question, do you play on the laptop or with a monitor? If you play on the laptop, put something under the back to raise it up an inch or so, helps the air flow. If you play on a monitor, do the same but also open the lid if you don't already. (Helps cool) you can adjust the screen to use the external LCD first, fn F8 most likely.

I need to have this explained again. I have updated my Graphics Card from Device Manager and the Nvidia website. When it comes to the Nvidia website...do I just download the most recent driver? Or should I download all of them? I think I need to delete all my drivers and start from square one.
I don't know what my "mfg website" is or how to find it. I'm sorry Lefty but I think I need a step by step...if it wouldn't be to much. Thank you for your help.

Well I finally figured it out!!! Yay. I guess when we you update your display drivers, for me 1-2 weeks ago when this problem started occurring, it sets all your settings back to default once you've updated them. So I just went to my Nvidia Control Panel and under Global Settings I have the ability to choose my Preferred Graphics Processor. It had selected Integrated Graphics instead of High-Performance Nvidia Processor. When I first bought my laptop I had found this control panel when researching the dual graphics cards and made sure to switch it to the Nvidia Processor, but like I said once I updated the drivers it must have switched back.
What a relief.....please send me an invite to your next lobby. I miss you guys.

Re: Need Help-Freezing all the time
Also as a side note, on the latest nvidia driver (280 series), l4d2 freezes when returning to menus from the game engine. But it usually recovers in 40-60 seconds..... This is a documented bug and nvidia is looking into it.
