Meh.....It would be better if there were a LAN gathering so we could play.

Doesn't Intel have one on San Diago every year?

You can stay off the strip for 50-60 a night, hell there is a casino right next to the hoover dam on the way into town that advertised $39 rooms and prime rib dinners $9. People automatically think Vegas is expensive because they only associate Las Vegas with a strip of real estate a couple of miles long designed to take advantage of tourists. A side bonus of Vegas is that there is no open container law
I've stayed off the strip in downtown and it's old and rundown and skeevy. Sure you can do things for cheaper, but it doesn't make it better. The likelihood of everyone wanting to stock their own food and eat in their rooms is also pretty low. Why are you going to Vegas if you aren't going to experience Vegas? If you're going to stay in your room to eat and stay off-strip, you could just as easily go to any city in the US and do that...

I didn't say I only eat in my room, I sad I can if I want to. I go to Vegas for the attractions/shows and fine dining. I have seen almost every show in town and my favorite restaurant is Emeril's Del Monico steak house. I eat breakfast in my room, have coffee etc. About half the time I eat lunch in if I am nearby otherwise I eat out. Dinner is all about the good food. But you don't have to do the strip for good food either. Everyone thinks Vegas is only about the gambling. I was there 4 days for Defcon and I spent nothing on gambling and I had a great time. The old strip is undergoing restoration and it's no where near as run down as it used to be. With that sad, I still avoid it after dark. Vegas has great nightlife, bars, attractions (roller coaster at new york for example, or Sigfried and Roy's secret garden).

With that said I have no problem with other locations. Without the LAN portion of the get together people are going to want to eat and drink and have some fun. Vegas has that covered. I mentioned Vegas because its a 5-6 hour drive for me otherwise southwest airlines has $79 each way airfare from PHX. If I am paying for a hotel and airfare I don't really care where its to as long as there is entertainment and good times to be had.

In all my trips to Vegas, I don't believe I have heard of that place. Then again, Vegas is usually a family vacation for my kin.
