Re: Pax east
I could care less about there being 90000 at the event. How many seats in the byoc? Qc bills itself as the largest in north America. And then there's the million man lan in Kentucky... with 500 seats... So it's somewhere in there?
Cojiro... we need to discuss.

It's not really a LAN event though from my understanding. Much more of an expo. Kind of the reverse of QC, which is a LAN with expo as an after thought mainly to show off Bethesda stuff.
Maybe I can convince my father to let me go on this trip. I'll just lie and say I've found religion again and that I want to visit the CS Mother Church. It should work. Or not.enf-Jesus its been like 12 minutes and you're already worried about stats?! :-P

What's the environment like at Pax. What I loved about QC is that it was all in one central location. The Convention is not in some crazy city with loads of people and traffic, and if you are coming from out of state the travel situation is a breeze when it comes to airports and taxis.
QC has that big feel, but I never once felt claustrophobic or annoyed of all the smelly gamers.ATEXANnHISGUN liked this post

I don't care what the primary our secondary focus of the event is. If the expo mattered, then we'd all go to CES, GDC, E3, etc. Pax, with all it anime, comic, nerd culture is cute and all, but we need a sizeable, accessible as stated above, and decent duration lan. Pax seems big enough. That, or maybe the MillionManLan?
Or do we just start going to dream lan and the gathering in Sweden and Norway?

Re: Pax east
Well... as a for instance... I usually go to GenCon in august. Nixed those plans for QC this year.
GenCon usually takes me 6-8 hours to go through and get a good sense that I've seen the vast majority of it. And there's enough events to keep someone busy for 5 days and you are still just taking part in a fraction of the events.
I got to QC... and... well... I saw everything I needed to see in literally 10 minutes.
I just don't get the whole LAN thing. I can play those same games at home. And I get to do it in my underwear. The only upside is getting to stand up and go slap someone upside the head if you so want. Other than that, it was great meeting everyone but other than that..........
But PAX is, as was stated, about the events. One of those events is a LAN, but it's just one of many.
I'd love to hit PAX and I might. It's a 1 week vacation thing though... 4 of those being driving time. 17 hours one way.Alundil liked this post

Try talking to the gamers, socializing, spreading the word about TPG, attending panels (if they interest you)...
The LAN is just a cool thing to have to kill time. We got to see several different new games (Loadout, ROTT, Takedown, etc) that can help give us an idea of hosting prospects.
