    Yesterday I was playing de_cache on the T side. The call was to rush bomb site A. I was in the middle of a large group that went to the room outside squeaky door and everyone got stacked up in the smoke. One guy ran around to enter the bomb site through the garage door (which is right next to squeaky door) and I followed him. We were both slayed just before we got to the garage door.

    A few minutes later the call was to rush bomb site B. I threw a flash through the glass window on the way there (which takes about 2 seconds) and I was slayed.

    Today I was playing de_cpl_fire. I don't this map at all and I mentioned that right away in the console. I just tried to follow the group. I was following two guys down the train tracks and they stacked up in the tunnel just outside bomb site A. They were both peeking the doorway (which is just about wide enough for two people) and I could see they were getting shot at. I waited a few seconds for them to go through the door or retreat. I was slayed.

    It's not just me getting slayed. I see it happening all the time lately. There was a new guy today (from some foreign country) playing de_cpl_strike and then de_season. He was clearly inexperienced and rather than try to teach him some admin started slaying him left and right (ie. for not protecting the bomb).

    I don't know who is doing this but I can tell you that it absolutely takes the fun out of playing. I understand that the admins are trying to enforce team play but there is a line that is being crossed. How about pointing out when someone did something wrong rather than slaying them with no explanation?

    Let me rephrase. Slays should be considered a warning. It's an attention grabber. People generally notice when they were killed by an admin.

    When an admin slays it is in my experience generally followed with a reason for the slay.

    Keep in mind an admin doesn't have to give a warning. If you aren't following a call an admin may simply ban you.

    Often, players ignore or fail to notice text-only warnings. A slay, on the other hand, cannot be missed. In my experience, text warnings usually follow.

    I was there on de_cache when you were slayed. The call was split A from mid and squeaky, no one stairs. I know this for a fact because I made the call. You and some other guy go all the way into the room with the door, then turn around and run back to the staircase and try to go straight in A. How do you figure the slay was unwarranted? You wimped out on the rush and then went to the exact place the caller said not to go.

    You know what really takes the fun out of playing? People that don't rush with their team or don't follow the call. It ruins the strategy that the shot caller is trying to employ.

    This was my thought. Our admins don't just slay for giggles, so there's more to the story than you are giving. And Max's post just emphasizes that even more. I'm sure there are things about the calls that you missed, which lead to the slays.

    @Madmax, thank you for reading my post. Do you mind explaining your logic why going through the garage door is counterproductive to your call? The strat was to take control of bomb site A, plant the bomb, and defend it until it detonated. I'm not sure I understand the logic of filing through squeaky door one by one when there is a wide open garage door right next to it. I did follow the team exactly as instructed and planned to go through squeaky door but we were bombarded with flashes and smokes and everyone was standing around in the smoke blocking that door. I figured I would better serve my team and the objective by going around (which takes about 5 seconds) rather than standing there in the smoke. Since I saw another guy doing the same thing I was also backing him up. At any rate, even if I am missing some subtlety of the strategy do you think this action deserves a slay (which is also detrimental to the team)? How about explaining over the mic what I did wrong and why it was wrong? I make mistakes all the time but I always try to follow the call and I'm always trying to improve.

    If this particular slay was isolated I wouldn't have posted this thread in the first place. But there were three slays in the last two days and the most recent one (on de_cpl_fire) seemed entirely unwarranted. I am seeing a pattern here and I wanted to bring it out in the open so it could be addressed. Whoever slayed me today, could you please respond so I can understand what was the reason?

    As I already explained, the call was very specific about how to take A. The strat was not to take A in a general fashion, it also stated how to do it.

    Its completely obvious what you did wrong; you didn't follow the call. You do not get to decide if a call is worthy of being followed. Your job is to follow the call and talk about what went wrong or how to improve it after the call has been executed, not during or prior. And if you don't like how people call then when the map changes you should step up and call. Either lead, follow, or get out of the way (off the server).

    The above might sound harsh, but nothing about what happened is complicated or out of the ordinary. The server has been run the same way for years.

    Seems like you were caught in a lame rush. Many players stop when flashed and end up blocking the people not flashed. Advice is to stick to the call. The admin may have been alive and was unaware of your situation. When the admin died he seen you away from the team. Slays are a warning, take it as that and be glad it wasn't a ban.

    The forums is where you discuss these things not in-game. There isn't enough time to debate calls in-game so take it to the forums.

    On your flashing the window then got slayed. Sounds like you dropped out of the rush and chances are you probably was in the front. Not rushing with your team is not being a TeamPlayer.
